Common steel properties and applications
Nowadays, steel is used more and more widely. They have a variety of varieties. As far as I know, we can distinguish steel according to the shape of the section. They mainly divided into four categories. Mainly refers to carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and tool steel. Now, let me tell you about the characteristics and fields of application of several common sheets of steel.
AISI 1045 steel is one of carbon steel. It is a medium tensile low hardenability carbon steel generally in the black hot rolled or occasionally in the normalized condition. Characterized by fairly good strength and impact properties, plus good machinability and reasonable weldability in the hot rolled or normalized condition. Typical applications are: Axles Various, Bolts, Connecting Rods, Hydraulic Clamps and Rams, Pin Various, Rolls Various, Studs, Shafts, Spindles, etc.
AISI 4140 alloy structural steel is one of alloy steel. It belongs to medium hardenability steel with Excellent fatigue resistance, good processability and small deformation when processing. After heat treatment, alloy steel has good intensity and Nice synthetic mechanical properties. Alloy steel used in the manufacture of high strength forgings, such as Locomotive traction with the big gear, supercharger Transmission gears, rear axle, huge load of connecting rod and spring clips, also available at 2000 meters deep of oil drill pipe joints and fishing tools, can also be used for bending machine mould, etc.
AISI 316 stainless steel is austenitic stainless steel. Due to the addition of the Mo element, it has a great improvement in corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength. It can withstand high temperatures up to 1200-1300 degrees and can be used under harsh conditions. The main uses are heat exchangers for pulp and paper equipment, dyeing equipment, film processing equipment, pipes, and materials for exterior use in coastal areas. Also used in the field of solenoid valves in 2013, mainly used for housings, clamps, spheres, valve bodies, valve seats, nuts, valve stems, etc.
H13 mold steel is hot work tool steels. It has good tempering resistance, high temperature wears resistance, good quenching and heat resistance impact resistance, high strength, high toughness, good Thermal cracking resistance. It can be nitrided to increase wear resistance. It is used for making extrusion mold and casting mold of aluminum-magnesium alloy, zinc alloy and copper alloy. It is also can be used for making a hot pressing mold and so on.
DIN 1.2738 plastic mold steel with excellent polishability properties, good wear resistance, high hardness, good machinability, suitable for surface treatment, can be processed by nitride. It suitable for large injection and compression mold for plastic processing 400mm thickness such as TV chassis, copiers, bumpers, shock absorbers, garbage and the dashboards, die casting.
